The ferry shuttles between the banks of Schleuse 100 and Stephansberg. A “Bamberg project” for and with disadvantaged young people under the leadership of the Don Bosco Youth Office.
This ferry connection replaces a pedestrian bridge, which made it possible to connect the island city with the mountain area until 1960 and is a better solution than building a new pedestrian bridge from an aesthetic and urban planning point of view.
Many Bamberg citizens, associations, authorities, craft businesses, companies, foundations and youth welfare experts are involved in the implementation, implementation and operation of the ferry.
