Large Welcome to Moose Jaw sign located northeast of the city just off the Trans Canada Highway.
Moose Jaw is the fourth largest city in SK, with some 34,000 folks calling it home. Early history has the name on maps around 1850. Settlement begsan in the 1880s with the westeward expansion of the CPR. The city was incorporated in 1903.
The Royal Canadian Air Force established a presence in 1940 in order to train aircrew. The flat terrain and abundance of clear days made this a prime location.
Today the RCAF maintains the base as its largest flight training center. It is also home to 431 (Air Demonstration) Squadron, known worldwide as "The Snowbirds".
