The village of Richmond is in the city of Ottawa. The Jock River, originally known as the Goodwood River, flows through Richmond. The Richmond Conservation Area was established on the south shore of the Jock River by the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority. The official address, the parkland and picnic area, and the signage (posted co-ordinates) are on Royal York Street.

The Rideau Trail Association maintains the Richmond Loop trail through the Richmond Conservation Area. Follow the blue plastic triangle flashes. Near Royal York Street, the blue loop trail hugs the south edge of the Jock River. The trail then goes along one residential block and back to the river shore before beginning a long loop around the Richmond Lagoons. East of the lagoons, the trail passes through a gravel parking lot on Eagleson Road.
