This bridge enables pedestrians on the Anacostia River Trail cross a small port at the Naval base known as the Washington Navy Yard. Though there is no fleet here at this small base along the Anacostia River, there is a small port for boats and small ships to enter. The Anacostia River Trail is a popular trail system created by the National Park Service that follows the shoreline of the Anacostia River.
