14U555 - McMurrich/Monteith Twp, ON - Canadian Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

A Geodetic Survey of Canada Marker from 1914 mounted in a rock outcrop along the old OA&PS railway. This abandoned railway is now the Park to Park (Seguin) trail. As I was hiking along I waypointed the private crossing from the description and did a goto. When I reached 268 m away, I jammed my hiking stick in between the rock face and the overburden to pry it back and the bolt was within 50 cm of my stick. Whoever measured that 268 m was on fire that day!.

Access

I hiked to this one from Old Track Road. It was about a 16.3 km round trip if you like that sort of thing. The shorter way would be to make your way to the end of Compass Lake Road at N45° 29.872 W079° 24.663. From there, the hike in is a very short 890 m down the very easily traversed trail.
