Smokey Bear stands on the south side of Minnesota Highway 1 in Northome, under the city water tower and in front of the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources forestry field station. The street address is 12006 Hwy 1 East, Northome.
Although Northome is close to Big Fork State Forest, no particular forest is indicated on the sign.
Smokey himself is in tiptop shape. The signboard on which he stands features a birdhouse. The signboard is somewhat battered.
