Lubbock Morning Avalanche 23 Jul 1938"A new seven-room grade school building on which work was started Friday at New Deal will be ready for occupancy when the September term starts, according to plans announced by Joseph R. Griggs, county superintendent. W. G. McMillan is contractor.
Cost of the building, which replaces a structure destroyed by fire in April, will be approximately $18,000 and an additional $1,400 will be spent for equipment, Griggs said. It will accommodate 220 to 250 pupils.
The building is directly south of the high school and the same type of brick is being used in its construction. It will have a front of 124 feet, and additional to seven classrooms will contain offices, a bookroom and rest rooms. Gas steam radiators will be used in heating. Locker space for pupils will be included in each classroom, the county superintendent said."
