Ducks Unlimited Canada was founded in 1938, and Big Grass Marsh was their first conservation project. The marsh is located NNE of Gladstone on the Big Grass River. This waymark is a plaque installed at the tourist information centre in Gladstone. A map on the back shows the location of the marsh. Big Grass Marsh is a 5,000 hectare complex that is recognized as an Important Bird Area of Canada.

The plaque reads:

Constructed in 1938
With the co-operation of the Province of Manitoba, the Rural Municipalities
of Lakeview and Westbourne, local landowners, lessees, and Ducks Unlimited Inc.

Originally dedicated in 1961 to honor
ISAAC PITBLADO, Q.C.
Manitoba sportsman and conservation advocate

Rededicated September 15, 1988 during DU Canada's 50th anniversary year
To those who had the foresight to conserve our nations' wetland heritage
