This obelisk stands in the center of an isolated cemetery on the north edge of Checotah.

The IOOF Home Cemetery is located on North Road, just east of the Checotah Sports Complex and its 8 baseball fields. The cemetery should be able to be reached through the sports complex, however, we made the mistake of trying to reach it from the road on the east and had to climb an 8 ft. embankment to reach the cemetery gate.
This cemetery was associated with the IOOF Home which is located about 3/4 mile west of the cemetery. The area is surrounded by a chain link fence and has 113 burials, all flat headstones. At the center is this obelisk which is a memorial to members of the IOOF who have died and are buried here.
The obelisk is approximately 18 ft. high and made of concrete. The IOOF emblem is engraved on each side. On the east side of the obelisk is a concrete inset which reads:
