Paradise Cemetery is located about 1.5 miles east of Checotah. Take Highway 266 1 mile east, then 1.5 miles north on 11th Street. The cemetery is located next to a farm, and at the time of our visit, two horses were happily grazing just beyond the fence. The cemetery is surrounded by a chain link fence, with trees along its perimeter. There are no driveways through the area, although it appeared that vehicles do sometimes drive on the grass.
There were 152 burials here. Only 5 or 6 were dated previous to 1920, however, there were over 20 headstones that were not dated. Burials continue up to the present.
