The front of this utility box features a snippet from
"Founding Natives", a mural on the side of Beside the Bride on the other side of Wayne Ferguson Plaza. The mural was painted in 2019 as part of Lewisville's ongoing revitalization of Old Town, and the artists chose to use local wildlife in place of local citizenry in depicting scenes from "back in the day." After all, they were here before the carts and wagons and trains, planes, and automobiles came along.
The section of the mural captured here shows longhorn cattle with trumpets leading a parade, with the old First Methodist Church visible on the prairie behind them. Their music is depicted by multiple bands of the rainbow, whose broad spectrum reflects a little something from everybody, past, present, and future. "oldtownlewisville.com" is at the bottom, while the white "Old Town Lewisville" emblem - "O" being the circle, incorporating "T" and "L" -- is on a black field to one side. The sky blue of the mural segues into shades and patches of aquamarine on the rest of the box, with the Old Town Lewisville emblem re-appearing on a black field on the back. The top is unfinished, while a real life scene is on the remaining side, showing a man playing his guitar in the evening at Wayne Ferguson Plaza across the street, with City Hall in the background.
