De Eendragtspolder is een bijzonder gebied vanwege de unieke combinatie van waterberging, recreatie en de internationale roeibaan Willem-Alexander Baan. De Eendragtspolder zorgt ervoor dat mensen in de wijde omtrek droge voeten houden, want er kan 4 miljoen kubieke meter water tijdelijk worden opgeslagen als wateroverlast dreigt. De gemeente Zuidplas is één van de allerlaagst gelegen gebieden in Nederland. Als er – door overvloedige regenval – overstromingsgevaar dreigt te ontstaan voor de dijken en het land erachter, kan er 4 miljoen m3 water in de Eendragtspolder en de Willem-Alexander Roeibaan worden ingelaten via twee openingen naar de Rotte. Met de herinrichting van het gebied is in december 2010 begonnen. Bij het graven van de roeibaan is in totaal zo’n 2,4 miljoen m3 grond verplaatst, vijftien kilometer kaden aangelegd, vier betonnen en zes composietbruggen geplaatst en drie constructies voor waterbeheer gebouwd.
In de Eendragtspolder zijn inmiddels veel bijzondere (trek-)vogels gespot, zoals de strandloper, de heilige Ibis, flamingo's, lepelaars, zwarte ibis en de tureluur. De Eendragtspolder bestaat uit twee deelgebieden, gescheiden door de slingerende Slingerkade. In het waterrijke plas-gebied ligt de internationale, 2 km lange roeibaan Willem-Alexander Baan.
Het waterpeil in de Eendragtspolder wisselt sterk en dat heeft alles te maken met de roeibaan aan de rand van het gebied. Zijn er roeiwedstrijden, dan wordt er water ingelaten in het gebied. Is de roeibaan niet in gebruik, dan is het waterpeil lager en vallen stukken drassig land droog. Ideaal terrein dus voor watervogels en steltlopers.
Er staat een uitkijktoren van 12 meter waar vandaan een mooi uitzicht over het gebied is. Het aardige van de Eendragtspolder is dat het zo goed toegankelijk is. Ook voor wie minder goed ter been is. De wandelpaden zijn meteen ook fietspaden en dat betekent vlakke paden.

The Eendragtspolder is a special area because of the unique combination of water storage, recreation and the international rowing course Willem-Alexander Baan. The Zuidplas municipality is one of the lowest lying areas in the Netherlands. The redevelopment of the area started in December 2010. During the digging of the rowing course, a total of about 2.4 million m3 of soil was moved, fifteen kilometers of quays were constructed, four concrete and six composite bridges were placed and three structures for water management were built.
Many special (migratory) birds have now been spotted in the Eendragtspolder, such as the sandpiper, the sacred Ibis, flamingos, spoonbills, black ibis and redshank. The Eendragtspolder consists of two sub-areas, separated by the meandering Slingerkade. The international, 2 km long rowing course Willem-Alexander Baan is located in the water-rich lake area.
The water level in the Eendragtspolder varies greatly and that has everything to do with the rowing course on the edge of the area. If there are rowing competitions, water is let into the area. When the rowing course is not in use, the water level is lower and pieces of marshy land become dry. Ideal terrain for water birds and waders.
There is a viewing tower of 12 meters from which there is a nice view over the area. The nice thing about the Eendragtspolder is that it is so easily accessible. Also for those with limited mobility. The walking paths are also cycle paths and that means flat paths.
