De Eendragtspolder is een bijzonder gebied vanwege de unieke combinatie van waterberging, recreatie en de internationale roeibaan Willem-Alexander Baan. De Eendragtspolder zorgt ervoor dat mensen in de wijde omtrek droge voeten houden, want er kan 4 miljoen kubieke meter water tijdelijk worden opgeslagen als wateroverlast dreigt. De gemeente Zuidplas is één van de allerlaagst gelegen gebieden in Nederland. Als er – door overvloedige regenval – overstromingsgevaar dreigt te ontstaan voor de dijken en het land erachter, kan er 4 miljoen m3 water in de Eendragtspolder en de Willem-Alexander Roeibaan worden ingelaten via twee openingen naar de Rotte. Met de herinrichting van het gebied is in december 2010 begonnen. Bij het graven van de roeibaan is in totaal zo’n 2,4 miljoen m3 grond verplaatst, vijftien kilometer kaden aangelegd, vier betonnen en zes composietbruggen geplaatst en drie constructies voor waterbeheer gebouwd.

De baan werd in overleg met wereldroeibond FISA ontworpen naar de geldende eisen zodat er internationale wedstrijden gehouden kunnen worden. De Willem-Alexander Baan heeft acht banen en een warming-up- en cooling-downbaan. De lengte van de baan bedraagt 2200 meter, van startlijn tot finish is exact 2000 meter. Bij de 500, 1000 en 1500 meter bevindt zich een tijdmeethut. Gescheiden van de baan is een smallere parallelvaart aangelegd voor de motorboten van de kamprechters, die zich via dit water van finish naar start kunnen begeven. Bij de finish is het hoofdgebouw gesitueerd, dat naast faciliteiten voor sporters ook kantoorruimte bevat. De aangrenzende botenloods meet 30 x 60 meter.
De baan werd op vrijdag 26 april 2013 officieel geopend door (toen nog) ZKH kroonprins Willem-Alexander, naar wie de roeifaciliteit genoemd is. Er zijn regelmatig (inter)nationale roeiwedstrijden. De Erasmussprints, gevaren over 1000 meter, was in september 2012 de eerste wedstrijd op de baan. In 2014 werd de baan gebruikt voor de Europese Studenten Spelen. Twee jaar later was de Willem-Alexander Baan het toneel van de Wereldkampioenschappen roeien 2016.

The Eendragtspolder is a special area because of the unique combination of water storage, recreation and the international rowing course Willem-Alexander Baan. The Eendragtspolder ensures that people for miles around keep their feet dry, because 4 million cubic meters of water can be temporarily stored when flooding threatens. The Zuidplas municipality is one of the lowest lying areas in the Netherlands. If - due to excessive rainfall - there is a danger of flooding for the dikes and the land behind them, 4 million m3 of water can be let into the Eendragtspolder and the Willem-Alexander Rowing course through two openings to the Rotte. The redevelopment of the area started in December 2010. During the digging of the rowing course, a total of about 2.4 million m3 of soil was moved, fifteen kilometers of quays were constructed, four concrete and six composite bridges were placed and three structures for water management were built.

The track was designed in consultation with world rowing association FISA according to the applicable requirements so that international competitions can be held. The Willem-Alexander Track has eight lanes and a warm-up and cool-down track. The length of the track is 2200 meters, from start line to finish is exactly 2000 meters. There is a time-measuring hut at the 500, 1000 and 1500 meters. Separated from the track, a narrower parallel canal has been constructed for the motor boats of the judges, who can move from the finish to the start via this water. The main building is located at the finish, which, in addition to facilities for athletes, also contains office space. The adjacent boat shed measures 30 x 60 meters.
The track was officially opened on Friday, April 26, 2013 by (then) HRH Crown Prince Willem-Alexander, after whom the rowing facility is named. There are regular (inter) national rowing competitions. The Erasmus sprints, covered over 1000 meters, were the first race on the track in September 2012. In 2014 the track was used for the European Student Games. Two years later, the Willem-Alexander Track was the scene of the 2016 World Rowing Championships.
