From the Smithsonian website, "Figure of a young boy kneeling next to a Scottish terrier. The boy's proper right arm is around the dog. He holds an abalone shell in his proper left hand, offering the dog water from the shell. The dog sits on his haunches to the proper right of the boy. The bronze sculpture sits on a concrete and stone base. There is a water fountain at the back of the base. The front of the base has a shallow basin at the bottom to hold water for animals."
