The outdoor rink is at the south end of Kristina Kiss Park. There is a parking lot off of Cope Drive. In the summer, this is the place for the splash pad and play structures. In winter, the outdoor rink becomes the place to be. Kirkwood's mural is a great representation of the people of all types who make use of the rink: all sizes and shapes and skill levels. The focus of the mural is the rink and the fun.
Two months after Kirkwood's mural was completed, the outdoor rink was named after National Hockey League veteran Chris Phillips. The rink's storage bunker has the Chris Phillips' plaque on one wall and Kirkwood's winter-scape mural on the bunker doors. Kirkwood did not sign this mural.
