The finest example of the high style Greek Revival is the First Congregational Church, 20 Main Street, 1848 (MHC# 1). Designed by Princeton, Massachusetts architect Captain William Lamb, the church is two stories in height with a front-gable roof on which is set a four-part steeple. Eaves make full returns to form a pediment that is flush boarded. The church is five bays wide and four bays deep. The steeple has a square base, followed by a square belfry, topped by a four-sided section, each side of which is slightly recessed in its center and ornamented with pilasters. A hexagonal spire tops the whole.

The first meeting house in Brimfield was constructed in 1722 although it was a long drawn out process completing the building. Placed on the same site as this building, the church was 45' long and 40' wide. There were entries on the east, west and south. The building was sold for $100 and taken down in 1805.
