The location of The Botanist was originally a 14th Century Chapel and then a Grammar School.
A blue plaque on the wall gives the following information;
THE OLD CHAPEL
A Chapel of Ease stood here
from the !4th century
until the Parish Church
was built in 1744.
The Grammar School
was also here
until 1887.
AND GRAMMAR SCHOOL "Where better than to sit outside 'early doors' sipping a cocktail and enjoy basking in the sunshine observing life on King Street. Inside the botanical theme runs throughout creating a relaxing atmosphere and try the 'hanging kebab' which is a highly recommended meal. Live music is also played in the evening on selected nights."
