First Congregational Church of Chicopee was built in 1825 after Chicopee became separated from Springfield. On the lawn at the south south side of the church is a resin plastic peace pole. On it reads the universal message May Peace Prevail On Earth in eight languages, two to a side. The languages are

East Side: English & Chinese
North Side: Arabic & Spanish
West Side: Polish & French
South Side: Hebrew & Portuguese
