The fort complex was built during 1943 on the eastern side of Magnetic Island between Horseshoe Bay and Arcadia Bay. It was anchored into granite boulders on a heavily timbered, mountainous point overlooking the Pacific Ocean.The fort was armed with four French 155mm M3 guns.
The site contains derelict concrete remnants of the command post, searchlight tower, ammunition store, radar station, signal station, gun sites and direction finder.
Further down the hill are the concrete remains of the floors of the kitchen, messes, latrines and workshops.
The complex is reached by a 1.5km walk along a signposted track from Horseshoe Bay Rd
