This pink granite marker, quarried near Streaky Bay, Australia, was given to the city of Stratford to commemorate the twin 150 year anniversaries of the establishment of the Republic of Texas and of the Province of South Australia. The marker is near the entrance to the former Santa Fe railroad depot in Stratford.

In 1836, Texas declared and won independence from Mexico, and the colonial government of the new province of South Australia was established.
