Castlehead is a low wooded hill 162 metres high, close to Keswick town centre with magnificent views across Derwentwater and the surrounding fells.

At the summit viewpoint there is a toposcope, a circular metal disc with sight-lines embedded in the top of it mounted on a stone base, that gives the name of 30 fells which can be seen and their height marked in feet and metres.

From the viewpoint there is a stunning 360 degree panorama over the full length of Derwentwater encircled by mountains as well as a bird's eye view over the town of Keswick and Bassenthwaite Lake.
