Long Description:This is one of my favorite fishing holes during the gun season for carp and suckers here on the shoals of the Clinch river in Scott County, Virginia. This may be the last place in the United States that you can legally shoot non-game fish in a river.
I climb up in a big tree over the river with a Mosin Nagant loaded with 7.62 steel core ammo, others use safari magnums and solid copper ammo to strike the shoals and bring up suckers and carp.
From the VDGIF website:
"Shooting with a rifle for suckers and carp from April 15 to May 31 during daylight hours in the shoals of the Clinch River within the limits of Scott County, except that it shall be unlawful to shoot fish on Sunday or within the limits of any town, or from any bridge. Fishing license is required. Creel limit: 20 per day."
