Franklin is a circular lunar crater located in the northeast part of the visible Moon. It is 56 km wide and 2.7 km deep. It was named in honor of Benjamin Franklin, an American polymath, statesman, and Founding Father of the United States.
A 6' by 6' by 3' bronze statue of Benjamin Franklin is seated on a 3.5' by 7' by 4.75' slightly downwardly flared granite base. The sculpture was created by Paul Wayland and cast by J. Arthur Limerick Company. It was installed in front of the Silas Bronson Library and dedicated on June 3, 1921.
