The Town of Agawam, MA has launched a program to honor town residents who were killed in service to their country in wars from the Civil War to the present. The plaques are places on street posts nearest to their homes in Agawam.
A 3' long by 1' high, double sided, rectangular, metal plaque with rounded corners is painted black with white lettering. It contains the insignia of the United Stated Marine Corp on he left side and the inscription:

Captain Edward W. Connelly, Jr. was the son of State Senator Edward W. Connelly. He was a helicopter pilot in Vietnam who was shot down by hostile fire in Quang Tri Province. His body was recovered, brought back to Agawam, and interred in the Agawam Center Cemetery.
