-----

On April 1st, 1945, two RAF Hawker Typhoon fighter planes take off from Gilze-Rijen to check the area to the north and east of Deventer.
Near the Verlengde Broekdijk in Kloosterhaar (liberated on April 5), Drummond and his fellow pilot Smith attack retreating Germans,
when they are in turn bombarded by light anti-aircraft guns. Drummond tells via radio that he is unharmed and returns to base.
But the Australian crashes and dies.
