The Kalkeifel trail is the connection between the Ahr-Trail and the Kyll-Trail. The name Kalkeifel is coming from the chalk-mines which were etablished in the era of the Roman Empire.
The length of this trail is 22,1km and the climbing height is 404 metres in total. Most of this trail is on the former railway-route there are minor exception where continuing using the railway was not possible. The surface of the trail is both bituminized and waterbound.
