The bronze Royal Canadian Regiment soldier on the Charlottetown Boer War Memorial was created by Hamilton MacCarthy in 1903.

Hamilton MacCarthy was one of the earliest masters of monumental bronze sculpture in Canada.

About the Monument:

Erected by the city of Charlottetown and the province of Prince Edward Island, this memorial is dedicated to the men of the Royal Canadian Regiment and to two soldiers in particular for their services in the South African War. Constructed on July 6, 1903, in memory of the Prince Edward Islanders killed in the South African War - Roland Taylor and Alfred Riggs.
