This statue of St. Mark is located at St. Mark the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church on the corner of Smithson Avenue and Morse Street in Lawrence Park, PA. The statue is outside of the church's social hall, which joins the main church to the catechetical center. The statue was dedicated "In loving memory, Michael J. Jurcak."

Saint Mark was the author of one of the four Gospels included in the New Testament. It is believed that his was the earliest written of the Gospels. It is also believed that Mark was a companion of St. Peter the Apostle. St. Mark founded the church at Alexandria and was its first bishop. He is often depicted by the symbol of a winged lion. His feast day is celebrated on April 25th.
