Syd for kirkens kor står der en mindesten rejst af øens 150 år gamle og stadig virksomme Sømandsforening. En tavle over dem, der ingen jordefærd fik men gik ned et sted på de verdenshave, som thurinere har pløjet tynde. En tavle ”Til minde om dem, der blev derude”.
Inskription på mindesmærket: "Til minde om dem der blev derude" . Herefter navne på druknede søfolk fra år 1900 til 1949.
