CHARLESTON, SC (WCIV) — Charleston Mayor John Tecklenburg held a press conference on Friday to discuss temporary outdoor dining rules in the city.

He was joined by several restaurant industry representatives from Charming Inns, Circa 1886, Rodney Scott’s BBQ, the Hall Management Group, Home Team BBQ and Charleston Crab House.

Among the changes, Tecklenburg announced that parking meters will no longer be enforced after 6 p.m. through the rest of the year.

On Tuesday, Charleston City Council approved an emergency ordinance that would allow restaurant owners to apply for a temporary use of areas like private property and public sidewalks for outdoor dining.
