Clifford house is a substantial sandstone, brick and timber building that comprises a two storeyed residence with timber verandahs to the first floor and a centrally located entrance portico to the northern side.
The 1865 building was originally intended for use as a Gentlemen's Club, similar to the Queensland Club in Brisbane. but after many uses in 1870 James Taylor had the Club House reconditioned as Clifford House, named after his father's birthplace in England.
