In the third year of the original church, the priest Father Leblanc wanted to get funds for a bell in his church. Each fisherman was asked to donate their catch on that day. Before the fishermen went to fish, they noticed that there was a strong south-east gale. That day wouldn’t be good to catch fish. As soon as the fishermen reached their boat, the gale disappeared. The sea was calm. They caught so many fish on that day, enough to pay for a bell of the church. The bell still exists.

The sister told us that the original church was burned to the ground. The only firefighters were in Cheticamp, 10 kms away. The roads were slippery and the church burned to nothingness.
