Located in downtown Punta Gorda is the Ice House Pub. This British style pub is in the former Punta Gorda Ice Plant building. The Ice Plant building is a historic building that was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on December 12, 1990.

On a Friday the 13th in August of 2004, Hurricane Charley hit the Ice Plant building as a Category 4 Hurricane with winds reaching 145 -150 mph. As a result of the strong winds, height and age of the building (built in 1913 & 1926) it sustained severe damage. The roof was torn off and the south (21 inch thick) wall collapsed. The owners re-built and saved this historic building that now serves as home to the Ice House Pub.

From the Ice House Pub home page:

"The Ice House Pub is an authentic English styled pub, located in the heart of Punta Gorda.

Behind the 37 foot long mahogany bar are 26 taps dispensing the best beers from around the world like Guinness, Harp, Boddingston's, Stella Artois and Kronenbourg 1664, along with many American favorites like Yuengling, Blue Moon, Sierra Nevada and Dales.

Drinking your favorite refreshment is only half the focus of the pub, British style-pub entertainment will be available to patrons. Games like snooker, bar billiards, steel tipped darts, dominoes, Shove a Penny, and Shut the Box.

If you get tired of this extensive list of games a 10-foot, high definition, front projection TV and our five flat panels will provide your favorite sport for your entertainment.

If an English pub-style meal is what you crave, then the Ice House Pub should be your dining destination. With a full British themed menu of such staples as Fish 'n Chips, Cottage Pie, Bangers and Mash and the American favorites Cheese Burgers, Steak Sandwiches and Giant Salads.

Built in the 1890s, the structure was used as an ice plant for the fishing industry. Over the years, it has changed owners and businesses. For a while, it had sat empty. Hurricane Charley all but destroyed the building when it tore the roof off and the south wall collapsed, but the building's owner's refused to demolish this South Florida landmark pledging to rebuild it and they did.

The Ice House Pub is truly a uniquely British destination steeped in South Florida history that everyone should plan to visit."

It is located on the southeast corner of U.S. Highway 41 and East Virginia Ave.
