Fyret i dag er Danmarks tredje ældste fyr, tegnet af Poul de Løwenørn og bygget 1816.
Fyret er nu fredet, men stadig i funktion for sejladsen gennem Lillebælt.
Oprindelig var fyret et lampefyr, hvor lyset kom fra en olielampe.
I 1878 blev fyret forsynet med et fast linseapparat og blev samtidig udstyret med en kasseret fyrhat fra Kronborg slot.
1960 blev fyrtårnet elektrificeret.
Der er ikke adgang til fyret.
The lighthouse today is Denmark's third oldest lighthouse, designed by Poul de Løwenørn and built in 1816.
The lighthouse is now protected, but still in operation for sailing through the Little Belt.
Originally, the lighthouse was a lamp by which the light came from an oil lamp.
In 1878 the lighthouse was fitted with a fixed lens apparatus and at the same time equipped with a discarded lighthouse hat from Kronborg castle.
1960, the lighthouse was electrified.
There is no access to the lighthouse.
