Long Description:

We visited this park and saw this Giving Cupboard thinking it was a Little Free Library. Retuned about a month ago and it was so buried in snow could just barely see the tip of the roof. Returned today and though there is still snow around, I was actually able to visit it.

The pantry was almost empty. There was just a few boxes of cold medication that were opened.

The Giving Cupboard - Rossland, British Columbia

In 2017, the grade 1/2 classes from Rossland Summit School decided to study our community. They wanted to give back to the people of Rossland and looked at our different needs. At the end of a 6-week inquiry project they decided that a Giving Cupboard would be a great way to showcase Rossland's charity as well as help people to acquire some necessary items.

Simultaneously, the grade 5s and 7s from Ecole des Sept-sommets had been studying social justice issues and ways to make a difference. in their community. The two groups working in collaboration have built and filled this cupboard for the community of Rossland. We hope that everyone can contribute to keeping it full. Some ideas of things to add to the cupboard would be toiletries or children's items but thoughtful things like your favourite book are also appreciated.

Special thanks to Gord Kutzner from SD 20 maintenance and Columbia Steel, who donated their time and materials to make this a reality for us.

Thanks, Rossland Summit School and Ecole Sept Sommets Ecole des Sept-sommets
