Diana, the Greek goddess of the hunt, balances delicately on a spherical base with her arrow drawn. Her gilded skin draws attention to her high pedestal from which she takes aim at distant prey. Diana represents an important commission for the artist and is the only female nude completed by Saint-Gaudens.
