Under March Road in Kanata, there is a tunnel which connects the residences of Petrie Lane with the National Capital Commission's Watts Creek pathway. Before 2012, both entrances of the tunnel were frequently marked by graffiti.
In 2010, the city of Ottawa created the Paint It Up program, supporting young artists in the implementation of murals in neighbourhoods with graffiti vandalism. The Western Ottawa Resource Centre provided oversight for this mural project in Kanata. A group of teenaged artists was led by professional artist Nicole Belanger.
The group chose a nature theme for the western portal. The use of moose antlers on each side of the west entrance lets one imagine entering the unseen face of the moose.
