The final resting place of centenarian Mary Elizabeth M. Hembree is at the very far northeast corner of Geary Cemetery. Her plot is noted by a single, upright headstone. Mary was the fifth child of eleven born to her mother and namesake, Mary Elizabeth.

1880: The first electric streetlight is installed in Wabash, Indiana.
1890: Dutch artist Vincent van Gogh moves to Auvers-sur-Oise on the edge of Paris, in the care of Dr Paul Gachet, where he will produce around seventy paintings in as many days.
1900: Illinois Central engineer Casey Jones crashes his train just north of Vaughan, Mississippi, and earns a spot in American folklore.
1910: Slavery in China, which has existed since the Shang dynasty, is now made illegal.
1920: The United States Post Office Department rules that children may not be sent via parcel post.
1930: The radio drama The Shadow airs for the first time in the United States.
1940: The New York Rangers win the 1940 Stanley Cup Finals in ice hockey. It will be another 54 years before their next win in 1994.
1950: Turing test published.
1960: 1960 Summer Olympic Games: Muhammad Ali (at this time Cassius Clay) wins the gold medal in light-heavyweight boxing.
1970: The Aswan High Dam in Egypt is completed.
1980: Terry Fox is forced to end his Marathon of Hope run outside of Thunder Bay, Ontario, after finding out that the cancer has spread to his lungs.
