Within Rainbow Springs State Park are several walking trails. Due to the remoteness of the trails there is the possibility of encountering bears. Bear Aware signs are posted at the beginning of the trails. These signs give warning of bear sightings as well as safety advice on encountering a bear while hiking as well as possible other instances of encounters while camping or driving. Bear facts about habitat and range as well as diet are mentioned.
Of note, we did not encounter any bears or see any signs of bears on our hike. Please do not let the sign deter you from hiking the trails. We saw many people turn around and leave upon seeing the signs.
