The memorial is a bronze plaque attached to a rock in front of the gazebo on the east side of the historic town square. There is a bust of Mr. Cooper to the left of the main text, with a quote:

A photo on page 120 of Toyia Pointer's "Carrollton," in Arcadia's Images of America series, has a photo of Texas Jim attending the dedication of the nearby A.W. Perry Homestead to commemorate the Bicentennial in 1976. The accompanying text notes that he was a writer, interested in history, and he was generally spotted at all the local events. His obituary (see Website, below) says that he had been the president of the Tex Ritter Fan Club, and worked at the Boot Shack here in Carrollton.
