The remains of this lock can be found on the now non-navigable section of the River Marne through Châlons-en-Champagne. The gates no longer exist but the lock sides seem in good repair.
The lock would have become disused sometime in the 19th Century after the Canal Latéral à la Marne was opened. The canal, in effect, stopped navigation of the river upstream of Epernay.
Waterway Name: River Marne
Connected Points: The now non-navigable section of the River Marne runs from Vitry-le-Francois down to Epernay. The Canal Latéral à la Marne now links both towns at either end.
