This Beer Can House is a classic Roadside Attraction, for sure. The decorations of this house began in 1968 when the former owner, Mr. John Milkovisch began "recycling" his empty beer cans to decorate/insulate his home. As time passed, the house became an local artistic legend and a tourist attraction. After Mr. Milkovisch died in 1988, Mrs. Milkovisch continued to live here , but sold the house in 2001 to the Orange Show Foundation who began to preserve and restore the eccentric house. In 2008, after much effort and repairs, the home was reopened for public tours for a fee. However, there is no cost to stop by and stand on the sidewalk to admire the unique character of Mr. Milovvisch's artistic creation known in Houston. TX as the Beer Can House.
The Beer Can House allows tours on Saturdays and Sundays from 12 noon to 5:00 pm. Call the Orange Show Center for the Visual Arts at 713-926-6268 to verify the guided tour. The cost in 2020 was advertised on a sign on the driveway gate to be $5 per adult, with children under 12 free.
