This interactive science display within Tualatin Hills Nature Park is described as a kaleidoscope, but in reality is a teleidoscope. Kaleidoscopes have closed ends and create patterns from colored glass or other reflective material within the viewing tube. Teleidoscopes have open ends so that whatever in the outside world the teleidoscope is pointed at becomes the basis of the reflective patterns. Spinning the bowl of the display changes the created images. Tualatin Hills Nature Park is located at 15655 S.W. Millikan Way Beaverton, Oregon. There is off-street parking on the east side of the park from SW Millikan Way. The park is open dawn to dusk every day. The coordinates are set to the public display.

Scientific Principle(s) being demonstrated:
Light can be bent and manipulated to create beautiful and interesting images that are not necessarily true to form.

Briefly explain if the experiment was effective for you. Could it have been better?:
I really enjoyed this public display as did several children in the area. Using colored vegetation as the basis for generating a kaleidoscope effect is very clever.

When is the apparatus/experiment available to the public:
This display is open dawn to dusk every day and is free to the public.
