IRENE RANABARGER
BELOVED TEACHER


"Irene Murcko Davis Ranabarger, 65, of Sedalia, died Sunday, Dec. 11, 2005, at her daughter's home in Sedalia.

"Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sedalia. Father Vincent Hoying will officiate. Pallbearers will be Ronald Davis, Michael Davis, Tyler Davis, Mitch Petree, Robert Murcko and Ronald Hoxworth. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Murcko and Thomas Kaperak. Rosary service will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16, at Ewing-Schutte-Semler Funeral Home in Sedalia. Visitation will be after 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 16, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Peninsula Cemetery in Blackwater.

"Born April 6, 1940, in Sharon, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Michael Murcko and Anna Miklos Murcko. She was a 1958 graduate of Ursuline High School. She earned her bachelor's degree in education from Youngstown College and moved to Sedalia in 1965, where she joined Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She taught grade school at Sacred Heart from 1968 until 1984. In the fall of 1984 she began teaching at Blackwater and retired in 2004. She was a life member of Sedalia Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary and a 20-year member of the Missouri State Teachers Association. On Dec. 10, 1960, she married Ronald Davis. On May 30, 1987, she married Vansell Ranabargar, who preceded her in death in November 2001.

"Survivors include one son, Ronald E. Davis and wife Lynn of Warsaw; one daughter, Debra Petree and husband Mitchell of Sedalia; two stepdaughters, Rena Thompson of Denver, Colo., and Randy J. Blank of Boonville; two brothers, Michael Murcko and wife Elaine of West Middlesex, Pa., and Robert Murcko and wife Marietta of Poland, Ohio; three sisters, Joanne Hoxworth and husband Ronald of Brookfield, Ohio, Evelyn Kaperak and husband Thomas of Mentor, Ohio, and Anna Marie Murcko of Boardman, Ohio; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews." ~ The Marshall Democrat-News, December 14, 2005
