The family name, "Hines", is on the plinth of this 15' marble obelisk, which has been previously toppled and then repaired. Note the triple criss-cross design that circles the obelisk shaft. Under the early Woodmen of the World emblem, with the dove flying over the log and tools, is this inscription:

W.W. Hines

Born
Apr. 5, 1849

Died
Dec. 16, 1898

---

Gone but not forgotten.

-----

On the bottom of the obelisk shaft on the reverse is "Erected by the Woodmen of the World". While a death year is not necessarily an indication as to the year a monument was placed, this one is very likely an early model.
Was the inscription legible?: Yes
