KINGSPORT — A Bristol teen who allegedly lured a man to Allandale Mansion Saturday with the promise of sex had two accomplices standing by to steal the man’s vehicle.

Kingsport Police Department Detective Justin Fleenor stated in his report that when the intended victim resisted the robbery, he was cut in the abdomen by a knife-wielding Cody Lee Wayne Byrd, 24, 944 Chadwick Drive, Kingsport.

Following the stabbing, Byrd and his alleged accomplices Marah Lynn Campbell, 22, of Bristol, Tenn., and the intended sex partner, Desaray Elaine Murray, 18, of Bristol Tenn., couldn’t get the victim’s vehicle started.

The victim told police the suspects then fled in a dark colored Kia Optima. A short time later, the Kia was spotted on I-26 by the Tennessee Highway Patrol, and the three suspects were stopped and detained.

The victim was transported to the scene of the THP traffic stop, where he identified Byrd and Murray.

Upon being interviewed by the KPD, Byrd, Murray and Campbell allegedly admitted that they set the victim up with a promise of sex with Murray with the intention of stealing his vehicle.

All three were arraigned Monday in Hawkins County Sessions Court on charges of aggravated robbery and criminal conspiracy. Byrd was additionally charged with aggravated assault.

As of Thursday, Byrd remained held in the Hawkins County Jail on $100,000 bond pending a court appearance set for Feb. 12.

Murray and Campbell were being held on $25,000 bond, with their next court dates set for Feb. 12 as well.
