L'Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière (IGN) est un établissement public français à caractère administratif ayant pour mission d'assurer la production, l'entretien et la diffusion de l'information géographique de référence en France.
Pour remplir cette mission, de très nombreux repères de nivellement ont été positionnés à travers la France. Ils ont des formes diverses mais l'un des plus courant est une rond de bronze portant la mention "Nivellement Général IGN"
Au centre, suivant le modèle, on voit, si le repère est encore en bon état, son altitude et son niveau de précision.
Ici le fond est complètement effacé.
On peut trouver un peu partout ce type de repère mais l'IGN ayant le souhait de la pérennité des mesures les a placé sur des endroits qui connaissent peu d'évolutions : mairies, église, pont, bâtiments publics, ...
Ici, c'est sur le mur d'un bâtiment EDF que j'ai trouvé ce repère.

The National Institute of Geographic and Forest Information (IGN) is a French public establishment with an administrative character whose mission is to ensure the production, maintenance and dissemination of reference geographic information in France.
To fulfill this mission, numerous benchmarks have been positioned across France. They have various shapes but one of the most common is a bronze circle marked "Nivellement Général IGN"
In the center, depending on the model, we can see, if the benchmark is still in good condition, its altitude and level of precision.
Here the background is completely erased.
We can find this type of benchmark almost everywhere but the IGN, having the wish for the sustainability of the measures, has placed them on places that know little evolution: town halls, church, bridge, public buildings, ...
Here, it was on the wall of an EDF building that I found this landmark.
