Church clock on the west face of the bell tower of St Wilfrid's church, South Muskham.

"The clock was manufactured by G.F. Cope of Nottingham and installed in May 1882 as a gift from the Reverend A. Wood.

The movement can be described as a two train (i.e. time side and strike side), mechanism of flatbed construction with a pin wheel escapement, the pallets mounted directly on the pendulum and the pendulum suspended from a double spring suspension. The whole movement is mounted on two cast iron brackets set in to the wall. The clock uses a ‘dead beat’ type of escapement called the pin wheel escapement.

The pendulum appears to be a wooden rod rather than the more expensive zinc and iron compensation pendulum. (With thanks to Mr Alan Middleton, curator of the British Horological Institute Ltd)."
