Ali Kemp, age nineteen, was home for the summer and working at the Leawood Community Pool after her freshman year at Kansas State University. Her body was found in the pool pump room by her father; the killer was sentenced to fifty years in prison. A news article about the trial is here.

This memorial portrays Kemp as a little girl, with a bird in each hand, and includes poetry that Ali wrote as a fourteen-year-old girl. The dedication plaque is simple:
