R 180 PNLS (AG0811) - Fort De Soto, FL - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

R 180 PNLS (AG0811) is located in the sidewalk along the seawall, just a short distance south of the Gulf Pier. The current disk was installed in 1997 to replace an earlier disk. This is not reflected in the outdated datasheet on Geocaching.com (visit link) but is clear in the updated description found on the NGS site (visit link)
"THE 1974 STATION WAS REPLACED WITH ONE IN 1997. IT IS LOCATED IN THE SIDEWALK NEAR A BEND IN THE SEAWALL APPROXIMATELY 300 FEET SOUTH OF THE GULF FISHING PIER. IT IS 15.0 FEET EAST OF THE BEND AND 5 FEET INSIDE THE SEAWALL. THE STAMPING IS R 180 PNLS AND THE DATE STAMP IS 97."

There is a $5 fee to enter the park and at least $1.75 in tolls required to reach the park. Enter the park and find the large parking lot for the old Fort De Soto and the 1000' Gulf Pier. Walk south and the seawall just a short distance from the start of the Gulf Pier. The survey disk is flush in the sidewalk near a slight turn in the seawall.
